"She … allows [people] to see that art exists on the streets and happens in the home." - Lynn Beavis, Director, Richmond Art Gallery (nominator)

Margaret Dragu lovingly brings “bratty” performance art out of galleries and into public spaces. Hers is a seductive dance that kneads together art forms (dance, acting, film and video, installation), everyday actions, big ideas and a generous helping of improvisation. What rises out of her creations? Moments of transformation and connection served with glamour and wit that disarm and open us to experience her work in our own personal ways. Her warmth and genuine attachment to those around her carries through to her work in her community as a personal trainer.
